As an affiliate member of the American Chemistry Council, WTS, Inc. has been a longstanding participant in ACC’s Responsible Care® program. Our Responsible Care Management System® (RCMS) guides our commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement. In the spirit of continuous improvement and transparency we monitor our RCMS and report on it quarterly.
The following summarizes highlights from our 2021 RCMS Annual Report.
We met our Goal Zero Standard– Zero Injuries, Zero fines, Zero Compliance Actions, Zero Insurance Claims
WTS was honored by the ACC as the Responsible Care® Partner Company of the Year for an unprecedented 7th time. The award was officially presented to us at ACC’s Annual Responsible Care and Sustainability Expo which was held virtually in April of 2021. We also received a Waste Minimization award in conjunction with LANXESS.[i]
WTS underwent a remote third party RCMS Surveillance Audit on 9/8 and 9/9. There were no minor or major non-conformances. The audit was conducted under the 2019 RCMS Technical Specifications. The following three points were highlighted as Management System strengths by the auditor:
“The level of commitment and pride of ownership was evident throughout the RCMS discussions.
The use of the Corrective Action Request system to track actions is closure and provide visibility to upper management.
The internal audit program utilizes a high degree of rigor, including a review of all Level 1 and 2 documents.”
The results of the audit continued to verify that our RCMS remains suitable, adequate, and effective for the scope of our operations.
WTS closed 4 2021 RCMS Objectives.
Objectives closed:
- Review RCMS Internal Audit Process
- Create SMM Information tools
- Optimize the use of e-Manifest Data
- Publish 2020 WTS Sustainability Report
We also once again met the requirements of our ongoing Community Outreach Objective:
The Lewiston office conducted a successful Electronic – Scrap Drive at the office on Tuesday 6/8/21. 4+ skids of e-scrap from employees and others was collected for proper management in conjunction with a local E-Waste management company. Our partner subsequently makes a donation of a portion of the proceeds to a local camp for children.
Select WTS Employees voluntarily participated in the annual Buffalo Niagara Waterkeepers Shoreline Sweep on 5/1/21 at Gill Creek in Niagara Falls.
Corrective Actions – Our Corrective Acton program was once again robust and fueled our Commitment to Continual Improvement in all facets of our operations.
Suppliers
Our Current Approved Suppler Roster stands at 468. All of our suppliers are qualified and managed through our RCMS including the Recycling/Reclaim/Disposal facilities, Transporters and Contractors we count on as partners to service our client needs. We believe that our Supplier program is the most robust in the industry.
Training
We once again complied with all of the applicable Regulatory and Company training requirements as specified in our RCMS.
